Is Hypnosis Safe?

Hypnosis is a state of mind you have experienced thousands of times over in one form or another, and it feels just like daydreaming.

It is completely safe, provided you work with a qualified professional who has plenty of experience, but only if you are a good candidate.

Tips for Choosing a Hypnotherapist

Hypnosis can help with a range of conditions, including weight loss, quitting smoking and phobias.

If you’re not sure if you would be a good candidate for hypnosis, please get checked out by your doctor and if they approve, make contact with your local hypnotherapist to see if hypnosis is a good fit for you.

When choosing your hypnotherapist, trust is a very important factor, so don’t be afraid to get on the phone and ask lots of questions.

If you feel a positive rapport with the therapist during your initial consultation, that’s a good start.

Be sure to work with someone who:

  • Has been practising for a good number of years;
  • Can provide testimonials and case studies;
  • Has done her training at a government accredited training institution;
  • You trust

When to Avoid Hypnosis

You should avoid hypnosis if:

  • You have had, or are currently experience psychotic episodes (or if you have been diagnosed with schizophrenia);
  • You have a history of grand mal epilepsy and you are not taking medication to control seizures;
  • You are feeling very depressed, agitated or suicidal;
  • You have recently changed, reduced or stopped a medication which affects your central nervous system

You Will Not Go into Trance If You Don’t Trust Your Therapist

Even if your hypnotherapist has all the right credentials, if you get a bad feeling when you meet them, pay close attention to this feeling.

If you don’t trust your therapist you will not go into a state of hypnosis. You have the right to feel completely comfortable with the process, so if you don’t feel comfortable I urge you to speak up.
