Will The Results Wear Off?

Hypnosis will not wear off if it’s done properly, by a fully accredited hypnotherapist in Melbourne. What exactly do I mean when I say ‘properly’?

What I mean is there are several components that make up a successful hypnosis session, and these components must come together like a well-oiled machine.

What Is an Effective Hypnotherapy Session?

An effective hypnotherapy session is one in which each party understands the role they play in the process.

Let’s take weight loss for example.

One approach could be that a hypnotherapist makes suggestions for healthy eating and exercise and sends the client on their way.

For most people, though, the issue runs much deeper than eating or exercise.

A good hypnotherapist will dig deeper and discover:

  • Is the client doing everything they can to solve the problem?

 If not, the therapist should collaborate with the client to set goals and establish an  action plan that will facilitate weight loss, which may include reducing calories and starting an exercise program

If the client is resisting the change, then the therapist should explore other factors that are contributing to the problem, such as:

  • Stress and anxiety;
  • Low self-esteem;
  • Negative beliefs;
  • Inability to set boundaries

All Bases Covered

Emotional factors must be explored and addressed in order for the client to be able to make lasting changes.

If all factors are not addressed, then the client may initially respond to the therapy, but when the novelty wears off, and when she’s alone at night after a bad day, she will eventually turn to food for comfort once again.

In this case, the effects of the therapy will indeed wear off, because the symptoms were treated without addressing the cause.

How to Choose a Hypnotherapist

Do your research and make sure your therapist has what to takes to solve your problem. Check that she has an accredited, government approved qualification, and plenty of experience.

Most importantly make sure you really understand her approach to your problem so that you can be confident she is addressing it from all the required angles.

Once your therapist has addressed all the underlying beliefs and blocks that are causing the problem, then there is usually no need for any follow up sessions, provided the client had a sufficient number of sessions in the first place.
